A typical August day awaited us at Cotswold Airport, Kemble; wet and windy… I arrived to find Mike Garner already set up sketching the silver Hunter by the control tower, early riser
obviously!

As all of the subject matter was outside we gathered in the well-situated café overlooking the airfield hoping that the sun would shine today. Indeed, it did for a while allowing our small band of artists to get cracking.

Nearby some ex-TAP Air A319s were sat in various states of dismantling so noticing their bright typography decided on a quick scribble and coloured gouache. Rain really was stopping play by the time I sketched the 727 from the perimeter road, so sat with intermittent wipers on in the car to finish a fast wax crayon rendition!

My thanks to our small band of artists, and our thanks to Cotswold Airport and staff who made us welcome on the day. I’ll try to book some finer weather if we visit again!
