ALL THE LATEST NEWS AND ACTIVITIES FROM THE EAST ANGLIA REGION

Little Gransden Airfield Sandy, Bedfordshire, Saturday June 21st, 2025

The East Anglian Region made a return visit to Little Gransden Airfield in Bedfordshire where we are always made to feel at home. Thanks as always goes to Mark Jefferies for his hospitality.
Several aircraft were pulled out for us to draw and tea and coffee was laid on.
Little Gransden is a centre for aerobatics with a number of Extras and Vans RV7. Historic aircraft also feature with Stearman, Tiger Moth, Yak, and although not on display, two Spartan executives; very rare American pre – war executive monoplanes.
We were lucky enough to be there on the day when Mark’s team of 3 Global Stars were off to Exeter to do an aerobatic display. We were treated to a practice display before they left. It was most enjoyable.
A small group of us gathered to draw and paint and managed to produce some very good work despite the heat of over 30 degrees and being plagued by a serious insect attack in the only shade available.
Most of us concentrated on the beautiful Tiger Moth which was rolled out for us. David Heaton, Paul Millet, Amanda Norris and myself produced studies of the Tiger Moth while Allen Churchyard produced a study of an Extra peering out of a hangar.
A thoroughly enjoyable day!
