On the same day that the Midland Region were visiting the RAF Museum at Cosford, members of the South East Region were enjoying their last sketching day of the year at the RAF’s other museum at Hendon.
Fifteen artists attended. It was great to also welcome members from the Western and East Anglian Regions including new Guild Friend Olivia Bryan-Davis.
As usual there were a few changes in the aircraft exhibited at Hendon. A recent, and very welcome addition, is the fuselage of Handley Page Hampden P1344. Recovered from Russia in 1991 the fuselage has been restored to high standard and makes an impressive exhibit.
After a rather chilly few hours of sketching and painting we gathered in the Boardroom for a lively review of the day’s work. We also commented on a couple of fine paintings brought in by David Heaton and David Bryant.
Hendon always delivers and the SE Region will be returning to the Museum on Saturday 28th February. Thank you to the Hendon team of staff and volunteers who hosted our visit.
