The second South East Region visit of 2026 was to the Gatwick Aviation Museum in Surrey. This is a regular venue for our group and offers several complete, post-war military aircraft as well as aero engines and other memorabilia. Since our last visit a de Havilland Devon has been added to the collection.
While most of the airframes are displayed in a hangar, three are currently outside. Given the fine Spring weather these received quite a bit of attention from our artists. Ten Guild members attended on the day and of these, six worked outside.
Winter opening hours meant we needed to be finished by 4pm so it was a relatively short day. We were able to hold our review outside in the last of the sunshine and, as always, there was a good range of artwork to look at.
